Our Philosophy

Based in Stafford, Virginia and established in 2020, STEAM Engine was founded to help develop and produce the STEM-skilled and technically-savvy workforce the U.S. direly needs. STEAM Engine provides enriched learning opportunities and an array of services and programs to support student academic achievement and youth development. STEAM Engine partners with nonprofit and for-profit organizations that empower youth to excel in school, become good citizens and lead healthy, productive lives.

Capture the imagination of students, bolster their curiosity, and build their confidence.

Encourage students to choose, pursue, and achieve a STEAM-based career path and career.

Bobby Blackwell

President (Executive Director)

In 2020, Bobby founded Steam Engine to increase secondary and post-secondary commitment to Science-Technology-Engineering-Art-Math (STEAM) education and careers. He is a retired Army officer, business owner and currently serves as a Steam Engine instructor and its president.

David Blackwell

Vice President & Secretary

David is a retired Air Force officer and has served in the federal government for over 30 years. He is a certified Dimensions of Success Observer for STEM training, has supported Big Brothers Big Sisters and reading literacy programs for youth, and is currently a Steam Engine instructor and its vice president.
